The graph below shows how search interest in “Black Friday trainers” has fluctuated over the last five years.
Brands have even begun vying for shoppers’ attention ahead of the big day, though our research shows there are some solid footwear favourites, both in the UK and worldwide!
As an undisputed sportswear titan, “Nike black Friday” received the most demand with 74,000 searches during November 2021, followed by North Face with 40,500, then adidas with 22,200. Converse, Vans and Timberland also made the top five last year, with 14,800, 9,900 and 9,900 respectively.
How many people are searching for Nike and adidas products? How the big brands compare…
Devotees of adidas might be surprised to see Nike speeding ahead in monthly searches for Black Friday. Though the brands are generally considered two of the biggest sports and footwear giants, brand search demand for Nike tends to be significantly higher.
Global searches for the broad term “Nike” are an eye-watering 30.4 million, whereas adidas has 16.6 million average monthly searches. It’s the same story when we look more specifically at the UK, with “Nike” at 1.83 million average monthly searches, while “adidas” has 823,000.
“Nike trainers” has a staggering 368,000 global average searches a month, with adidas behind with 135,000 for “adidas trainers”.
So, why does Nike see considerably more search volume, both worldwide and in the UK? How have these two footwear giants marked the occasion in the past, and what might we expect from them 2022?
